How this site works, and why money never changes what we say

Written and maintained by Chris Catto, founder of Pickle Paddle Reviews. More about the site.

The short version

  • The ratings and reviews here come from real players in the community, plus my own honest opinions.
  • Some brands give us a discount code. If you use one, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing, because the brand builds it into their program.
  • No company pays us to influence our charts, ratings, or reviews. Not ever.
  • When you see a Catto Tomato Opinion, that is my personal take, in my own words.

Discount codes and commissions

A handful of brands offer discount codes you can use at checkout. Using one may save you money, and it may earn us a small commission on the sale. That commission comes out of the brand's marketing budget, not your pocket, so it costs you nothing extra.

Here is the important part: a commission never changes a rating, a ranking, or where a paddle lands on any chart. We do not chase higher payouts, and we do not organize our coverage around who pays what.

No paid placements, ever

We do not sell spots on lists, sponsored rankings, or paid placements dressed up as opinions. No brand can pay to move up a chart or to soften a review. If a paddle is not good, we say so, no matter who makes it or what relationship we have with them.

If we ever publish genuinely sponsored content, it will be labeled clearly as sponsored and kept completely separate from our reviews and rankings.

Where the ratings and specs come from

Specifications are factual details published by the manufacturer. Community ratings and reviews come from real players like you. We do not pass off other reviewers' private lab numbers as our own.

The Catto Tomato Opinion

Some paddles carry a Catto Tomato Opinion. That is my personal, subjective take, written in my own words. It is one opinion, offered honestly, and the community ratings are right there next to it so you get the full picture rather than just mine.

Free product

We do not currently receive free paddles from brands. If a brand would like to send one, I am genuinely happy to test it. To be clear, getting a paddle for free would never guarantee a review, a positive review, or any coverage at all.

Brands who want to send a paddle for testing can reach out through our contact form.
